Cynthia Correll is an award-winning mixed-media artist and a creative entrepreneur, known as the Communication Architect. In her thought-provoking and whimsical work, she combines art, logic and structure to inspire and entertain the viewer. By generating more harmony and joy in the world, she hopes to motivate social reform. Cynthia naturally looks to the future, confronting traditional ideas by tapping into her instinct for embracing change and seeing possibilities.
As a visual artist, she has exhibited around the country. One show favorite was her mason jar filled with alphabet soup and labeled “The Complete Works of Wm. Shakespeare – Shake Before Reading”.

Gets your creative juices flowing
From the cover to the back, this little tabletop companion makes a great addition to anyone’s library.
Very creative and thought provoking. More than once, as I explored this book, I found myself saying - how clever - why didn’t I think of that! (noted especially pertaining to the pearl ampersand picture.)
I love the detail in the drawings. The use of both the thin black lines in contrast with the free flowing water color technique creates a pleasing and relaxing visual texture.
I bought this book for myself, but it’s got me thinking this would make a gift for the creatives in my life. Or better yet, anyone who could use a boost of joy:)

Open to any page in the Land of Ampersand, and you will find yourself smiling. It is not meant to be consumed in one sitting. I am keeping my copy nearby to re-enter when I crave a bit of whimsy. The combination of words and illustrations are incredibly clever. Cynthia Correll clearly applied her sense of humor and artistic talents to stimulate the reader’s curiosity. Who knew the ampersand could be so entertaining and engaging? & the world could use a bit of levity right about now.
